According to the National Advisory Council created in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina, FEMA does an inadequate job of serving Black and low-resource communities during disasters. With federal agencies taking their time to enact incremental change, it is up to vulnerable communities to establish an effective response to climate disasters. Joining the Climate Communities Network helps to formally operationalize what we are already doing locally to address the needs of vulnerable populations before, during, and after crisis.
